Geography.
It is located on the northern area of the island with a surface area of 18,31 Km 2, at an altitude of 322 m, at a road distance of 24 km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Its population, which has grown in recent years, is of 8 267 individuals.
To the north it limits with the Atlantic; to the south with Candelaria and El Rosario; to the east with Tacoronte and to the west with La Matanza de Acentejo. In El Sauzal there are slopes ranging from 1.400 meters in altitude to sea level.
It has great coastal cliffs, that is why beaches are scarce, some of them are hard to access but are very beautiful, such as Garañona Beach, at the foot of a cliff that rises to the east, from which there are impressive vistas.
